2006 Emerald Rain Bellydance Competition Categories Hestia (Beginners): This category is limited to those who have been studying less than two (2) years. Beginning dancers may not have been hired to entertain for clubs, private parties or entertainment services for a fee. Performance time of five (5) minutes or less. Use of props is restricted to zills and veil, although not a requirement. Middle Eastern music is required. Athena (Pro-Student): This category is limited to those who have been performing up to five (5) years. Pro-students may not have been hired to entertain for clubs, private parties or entertainment services for a fee. Entrant may NOT have taught classes. Performance time of eight (8) minutes or less. middle Eastern music is required. Aphrodite (Professional): This category is limited to those who have been perfroming any amount of time and has earned monies through their performances or promotes/advetises themselves as a professional performer and/or instructor. Performance time of ten (10) minutes or less. Middle Eastern music is required. Persephone (Alternative): Open to daners of all levels and status who wish to copete using non-traditional music or dance styles. Bellydancing should however make up half (50%) of performance. Presentation should interconnect with music and sostuming. Performance of ten (10) minutes or less. Muses (Troupe): Limited to troupes of three (3) or more dancers. All levels are welcome. All members must perform during the entire performance, with the exception of short transition moves. Props may be used but are limited to 1/3 of the performance or less. Performance time of ten (10) minutes or less. Middle Eastern music is required. Sirens (Duets): Open to duets (2 dancers) of all dance levels. Both contestants must perform together during the entire performance, with the exception of short transition moves. Props may be used, however must be limited to 1/3 of the performance or less. Performance time of ten (10) minutes or less. Middle Eastern music is required. Gypsy/Tribal Soloist: This ategory is open to any level of dancer using Gypsy, American Tribal and related styles of dance. Props such as swords, tambourines, fans, zills, etc...may be used however must be limited to 1/2 of performance. NO FIRE props allowed! Performance of ten (10) minutes or less. Middle Eastern, Flamenco or mediteranean music is required. Minors: Any level of competitors who is less than seventeen (17) years of age is welcome. No props are allowed in this category (zills and veils do not count as props). Entrant must NOT have taught classes or promoted themselves as a professional in ANY way. Performane time of five (5) minutes or less. Middle Eastern music is required. Majors: Any level of competitor who is forty-five (45) years of age or older. Performance time of ten (10) minutes or less. Middle Eastern music is required. Duet/Troupe Alternative: Open to dancers of all levels. Using non-traditional music. All members must perform during the entire performance, with the exception of short transition moves. Performance time of ten (10) minutes. |
